It just doesn’t feel like Christmas until you’ve had a great big slice of fruit cake, and our intensely flavoured Brandy Fruit Cake will certainly hit the spot.

We’re a bit proud of this fruit cake. Made especially for us by a small team of Lake District bakers, this cake is Cumbrian through and through. It’s packed full of plump raisins, sultanas and cherries, tangy citrus peel, dried pineapple and dates. Fed with brandy, it’s matured over a few months, resulting in a moist bake that’s crowned with a layer of rich marzipan and snow white icing for the finishing touches.

Anyone who tries it agrees it’s a little bit special, and we recommend it with a cup of tea, or a slice of cheese.

Made by hand in Kendal, just a few miles along the road from our Windermere store, a small team of bakers use only the freshest, locally sourced ingredients, and take a great deal of care to deliver memorable flavours in each and every cake they bake. Us Cumbrians love a bit of cake, so testing this one was no hardship, and can promise that you’re in for a properly festive treat!
